RTB Stands for Real Time Bidding

Real Time Bidding (RTB) is the relationship between publishers (sellers) and advertisers (buyers) bidding on placements or for a users behaviors in real time. The key to RTB is that everything happens in as close to current time as possible through an automated auction. Based on the demand of the individual/visitors behaviors, bids are simulated to see which ad placement wins the RTB auction.

RTB is regularly used with Programmatic Advertising and is the connection between SSP’s and DSPs.
