What Is Word Of Mouth?

by | Jan 16, 2021

Word-of-mouth is the action of sharing information from one person to another, whether by telling someone directly or via another medium such as social media

Have you ever recommended friends or family members about a product or a place because you’ve had a good experience with it? Or have someone ever told you to try a particular product because they like it? If you have, you’ve engaged in what’s called word-of-mouth.

The strategy of word-of-mouth is considered to be one of the most effective forms of marketing. It has now come to be known as word-of-mouth marketing (WOMM).

A WOMM is a targeted effort taken by businesses to influence people to talk to others about your product or service. Word-of-mouth is highly valuable because your customers are essentially doing the work for you by sharing and promoting your brand.

Moreover, word-of-mouth has a high level of trust because it’s said that people are likely to purchase a product or service when it’s recommended by someone they know. Therefore, it’s essential that your business provides positive experiences for your customers because this is one way to trigger word-of-mouth.
