What Is A Dead Click?

by | Nov 8, 2020

A Dead Click is a click on a website the ends with nothing happening.

Dead Clicks, is a metric used by Microsoft Clarity’s analytics platform to understand the number of clicks that end up with no affect.

Similar to Rage Clicks, Dead Clicks are a negative metric that signals a user has been met with poor user experience, a click on the site with no affect. Dead clicks are often times the catalyst for Rage Clicks.

A dead click could be when a person tries to click a square that looks like a button but is not, or the logo in the menu that is not linked, images that don’t zoom and more.

Using Microsoft Clarity, a webmaster can easily diagnose Dead Clicks by viewing recordings that have dead clicks in them.
