In Marketing, SAC Stands For Special Ad Category

Special ad categories are designations by initially Facebook, but now moving to Google and other platforms, for markets and advertising segments deemed protected. SAC’s are protected to eliminate the ability to discriminate in targeting, by eliminating the ability to target on age, gender and specific behaviors. Additionally, geographic targeting is reduced among these.

SAC’s include:

  • Employment: Any job seeking ads.
  • Credit: Anything around credit decision, including things that are primarily considered to do with credit like purchasing a vehicle.
  • Housing: Any ads for buying or selling a home, or related services.
  • Social Issues, Elections or Politics: Social issues can vary in this category, but the latter two are relatively obvious.
