Corkboard Concepts Gets an Office Upgrade at the Energy Innovation Center

by | Oct 8, 2024

At Corkboard Concepts, we’re thrilled to announce that we’ve officially moved into a new office space! As our team continues to grow, and our client needs evolve, we need a bigger, more dynamic environment to support our journey. We’ve upgraded to a new location at the Energy Innovation Center (EIC) in Pittsburgh’s Lower Hill District.

Field Day—a coworking space in Lawrenceville—was our home for the past few years. It was where we navigated the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic, expanded our team, and grew stronger as an organization. Field Day allowed us to meet with clients, host events, and fuel our coffee addictions at the café.

With a growing team of 25+ employees, we quickly outgrew the space. As we looked toward the future, we knew we needed a larger office to accommodate our team’s growth and long-term goals.

We want to extend our sincerest gratitude to Field Day for providing us with such an incredible space during an important period in Corkboard’s history. But now, we’re excited to embark on a new chapter at the Energy Innovation Center!

Welcome to Our New Home: The Energy Innovation Center (EIC)

Our new office is located inside the Energy Innovation Center.

Energy Innovation Center

The EIC is a nonprofit organization focused on driving the development of clean and sustainable energy technologies. The center serves as a hub for education, workforce development, and business incubation, aligning with our mission to stay at the forefront of strategic and digital marketing.

A Sustainable and Historic Space

The Energy Innovation Center is a standout in sustainability and efficiency. It is one of Pittsburgh’s leading examples of green adaptive reuse, a concept that transforms existing spaces into energy-efficient environments. The building is LEED Platinum Certified, meaning it meets the highest sustainability standards.

The building itself once housed the Connelley Trade School, which opened in 1931 and played a vital role in vocational education in the city. Today, the EIC carries on that tradition by combining innovation, education, and industry collaboration under one roof.

Energy Innovation Center History

The Connelley School machine shop in 1954. This shop was designed to resemble a modern factory, where students were destined.

With over 200,000 square feet, the Energy Innovation Center is a “living laboratory” for energy sector corporations, research laboratories, political leaders, and academic institutions. This diversity makes it an inspiring environment for Corkboard Concepts to continue our work and push the boundaries of what’s possible in marketing!

What This Move Means for Corkboard Concepts

The move to the Energy Innovation Center comes with a host of exciting opportunities for our growing team. The new space gives us room to expand our team and collaborate more efficiently. We’re especially excited about the collaborative potential that comes with being in the same space as other forward-thinking organizations that are shaping Pittsburgh’s future.

For our clients, this move means even better service. Our expanded office space allows for more dedicated meeting areas and a more vibrant work environment for our team’s creativity and strategic thinking!
