What Is A Sitemap?

A sitemap makes it easier for search engines to locate where things are on your site

A sitemap is a blueprint of your site which maps out all the different files, such as videos, images, and information about your pages. It’s an essential feature for SEO because it can increase your site’s search engine visibility (SEV) by helping search engines navigate your website effectively and find the information you want to show to users.

There are different types of sitemaps:

HTML Sitemap: A clickable list of all the pages on your site. Created to make it easier for visitors to find the information they’re looking for.

XML Sitemap: The most common sitemap that helps link your pages.

Video Sitemap: specifically used to help find video files.

Image Sitemap: used to locate image files on your website.

The use of a sitemap is useful if you have a large website with many rich media content and pages that are not well linked to each other.
