What Are Google Vehicle Listings?

What Are Google Vehicle Listings

Could your company benefit from Google Vehicle Listings? If you are a huge auto dealership franchise or a small-town dealer chances are you will benefit from investing in Google vehicle listings. What are they and how can they help improve your marketing efforts? Keep reading to learn more!

Google Vehicle Listings Overview

Vehicle listings are a new offering from Google that allows dealerships to show what cars they have on their lot, right on Google’s SERP for free. It gives consumers important information when they look up a particular vehicle or car dealership.

Some of the information vehicle listings give consumers are the year, make, model, and MSRP of the vehicle. Along with this information, it also shows what dealership the specific car is at, and approximately how far away the consumer is from the dealership.

Where Do They Appear?

There are two areas that vehicle listings can show up in, the dealership’s GMB or on the right side of the search results. When a consumer searches for a specific dealership, Google will show what vehicles they have on their lot in their GMB profile.

From here, consumers can click through to an additional page where they’ll see all vehicles on the dealership’s lot. The second spot where vehicle listings will appear is in a section on the right side of the results page. From here, Google allows the consumer to click through to a Google page where they can see additional vehicles, filter based on certain specifications, and sort the vehicles by price, mileage, or date added.

Vehicle Listings vs. Vehicle Ads

While Google’s vehicle listings have many similarities to their vehicle ads, there are a few important differences to note. The most important difference is that the vehicle listings are free compared to having to pay for the vehicle ads. This allows dealerships to get their names and vehicles in front of more consumers at no additional cost. Another difference is where they appear on the results page.

The vehicle ads are going to be much more prominent than the vehicle listings, as they appear at the top of the page. Meanwhile, vehicle listings show up on the right side of the page or in the dealership’s GMB profile, and consumers may have to scroll down to see them in some circumstances. Another difference between the two is the setup process. Vehicle ads require a merchant center to be created, where the ads pull the information from, while vehicle listings have their own portal to use.
